The Bon Vivants struck three-star gold with their Mission bar, Trick Dog, this week; next week, they’ll close their temporary “pop-up” bar on Market Street, Rio Grande.

Rio Grande opened last summer in the old strip club on the first floor of the Renoir Hotel, which was newly purchased by the Kor Group. As part of the hotel’s experimental “A Temporary Offering,” the plan was always that it would be a fleeting affair, but with canned beer and Tequila aplenty, the laid-back Rio Grande nonetheless became a favorite of the industry crowd.

Today, Rio Grande announced on Facebook that it’s making good on its temporary promise and it’s riding off into the sunset:

It saddens us to say that the RIO GRANDE will be closing its doors this coming Monday, April 8th. Catch Russell behind the bar this Thursday (4/4) and Friday (4/5), Janiece on Saturday (4/6). We won’t be open Sunday, but the BIG blowout party will be on Monday, the 8th. Come help us lay this beautiful bar to rest and catch a drink with us before it’s gone forever. Thank you all for the love and support… “SAVE THE RIO” 6/1/12-4/8/13

Word on the street is that the Kor Group is finally ready to activate its plans for the Mid-Market hotel, and gave the bar its notice. More soon.
